野三坡是革命老区，是平西（北京西部）抗日根据地的中心腹地，聂荣臻、萧克、杨成武等老一辈革命家曾在这里领导三坡人民同八路军一道抗击日寇，涌现出了许多象三坡女儿杨怀英样的民族英雄，鸡蛋坨阻击战七勇士用鲜血和生命谱写了一曲狼牙山式气壮山河的英雄凯歌。红色歌曲《没有共产党就没有新中国》就是在这里诞生，并由此唱响在祖国的大江南北。
